Pyrene is a useful proximity probe because two pyrene residues close to each other exhibit strong excimer fluorescence.

Bodipy系列染料(氟化硼二吡咯类荧光染料)作为光敏剂在方向的研究:
光动力疗法(PDT)是一种的疗法,目前,卟啉衍生物是上应用的PDT试剂,但是其感光性和选择性还不够,不是的PDT试剂。BODIPY荧光染料因具有的光物理性质,只要对其进行合理的官能化,便可作为一类的光敏剂而应用于光动力疗法。Yogo和Urano等在BODIPY2,6位置接上两个碘原子,利用碘原子的重原子效应,得到了一种的光敏剂2I-BOP。与传统的光敏剂玫瑰红相比,2I-BOP活性氧产生效率是玫瑰红的1.5倍;在激光照射下,2I-BOP的光稳定性优于玫瑰红。他们将其用于宫颈试验,证明2I-BOP作为光敏剂在光动力中具有应用。Erbas[31]设计一个带有芳香双的BODIPY衍生物作为光敏剂,并将其包覆到碳纳米管中,用于光动力上。利用碳纳米管作为光敏剂的载体,可以的水溶性及生物相容性问题。他们利用单线态氧捕捉剂二苯基异苯基呋喃(DPBF)来测定光敏剂单线态氧的产生能力。
